March Inspiration - Megan

Hi there Blue Fern Fans :)

Today I have two layouts for you using Amber & Apricot, and two cards, one using wanderlust and one using Remnants, so lets get to it :)

For this layout, I fussy cut along both edges and popped a large chipboard sheet behind it, before adhering it on top of my second piece of patterned paper.  I could then add my chipboard popping out from along the sides.  Theres also some fussy cutting, utilising the fabulous floral graphics to add more depth to my cluster.

The details: sprinklings of seedlings and splatters of rust colours.

Chipboard has been embossed with Mushroom Embossing Powder - I find myself reaching for this one a lot, its a fab colour!

This photo shows you all the dimension of this layout, lots and lots of layers, makes everything pop!

My second layout today again uses the lovely Amber & Apricot collection.

My background this time is a mixture of stamping, paint splattering and fussy cutting -  this collection was perfect for it! ;)

Again there is a lot of dimension to this layout.  The heart has been painted,  while its till wet covered in red glitter, and then inked the edges with black archival ink.

I love how the seedlings give that extra bit of interest and pop to a project!

My final project for you today is two cards with two different collections.

The first card uses the Remnants Collection.  The Callaway piece of patterned paper is perfect for cards - out of the four different 6x6 patterns, I selected the two I wanted and attached them to my cardstock base.

I used two different colours of seedlings to coordinate with the green/purple colour scheme I had chosen.

The chipboard this time I left bare because I felt there was enough colour without introducing a new one.  The printed chipboard pieces created further interest popping out from my cluster and curled paper edges.

The last project for you today is a card using the Wanderlust collection.  The card was for a colleague who was leaving; young and full of energy I thought this quote was here to a T! :)

Simple but effective there was really nothing to this but I love how it turned out.  Layers of paper with layers of chipboard, some twine and a bit of paint splattering.

You can see here the amount of layering involved.
Thanks for popping by!  I'll see you next month :)

January Inspiration with Megan

Hi Everyone! Im very excited to begin 2108 with a new team, and one of my favourite scrapbook companies :) :), so to kick off heres a few things about me.

I live in the South Island of New Zealand, which also means its Summer here :)  I live just outside of Christchurch with my husband Forbes and our two dogs, Dougal and McKenzie, and I work part time as a Registered Nurse.  Ive been scrapbooking for awhile now and in that time I have cultivated quite the passion for fussy cutting, flowers and chipboard.  Hmmmm, and paper!  ;) I hate getting messy! but I love dabbling in mixed media - its a bit of a love hate thing lol.

My Blog: weemegsstudio.blogspot.com
Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.nz/weemegs/my-creativity/
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Weemegs-Studio-Creations-1744557915863106/

Anyway, here are my projects for this month.
The first layout I have for you is a photo Ive put off using for a while - I just couldn't decide what to do with it.  And then I saw the Remnants collection and I had a plan!

To create the background I used rust paste with a stencil, then watered it down to create paint splatters. I used three different stamp sets in the background as well - Christmas Collage, Label Frames, and Tattered Newsprint.

To alter the chipboard, I used different techniques - crackle paint to the clock faces, black archival ink to the cogs and Mushroom Embossing Powder to Printers Bits chipboard - these pieces I also inked slightly with black ink and randomly stamped on.

Ive created three layers to page, popping each layer up with scraps of chipboard.

For my second layout I also used the Remnants collection, but this time I wanted a more feminine look to the page.  I used two pieces of patterned paper from the collection, Mayfair and Bloomsbury, and utilised both sides of the papers to create the different layers you see. I also used the Printed Chipboard that comes with the collection for accents.

I loved the glittered look to the new embossing powders Wheat and Night Sky,  they are just stunning in real life!  I also used some mauve seedlings sprinkled in the background.

Again I have lots of layers in this layout, four in total.  Ive split the chipboard frame in half giving two frames, and layered the chipboard phrase on top - Ive split this also so I can place it exactly where I wanted it and you can't even tell it was all joined together initially :).

For the background, this time I used a mixture of colours splattered over the page, gold, white and mauve.  Ive used the Remnants Collage stamp for the background.

My final project is a wooden letter for a friends little girl - S is for Sadie :). I used a piece from the Frolic collection, fussy cutting some of the decorative elements from the paper to use in my cluster.

I have again used a variety of stamps, this time with grey ink - Tattered Newsprint and Arcadia Textures.  The Eclectic Hearts chipboard I gave some dimension to by using an embossing folder, and then Pink Embossing Powder.  The Mini Flourish chipboard pieces were embossed with Pearl Embossing Powder.

January projects by Annie Samson

Hi everyone,

I am very honored and excited to be a part of this fabulous team and share my first projects whit you.

First, let me introduce myself !

I am 39 years old and I live in the French province of Quebec in Canada. My daughter who is now 19 years old,  is the inspiration for almost all my layouts. I love to create texture and add mediums to my layouts.  Flowers and chipboard are also 2 of my most preferred ornaments.

For my first layout, Sparkles,  I used the back of the Noel paper in the Vintage Christmas collection.

I  added a little bit of texture with modeling past and added a very light beige color with acrylic paint.

I used the Swirly CircleShabby Flake, Frosty Flake and Winter Forest chipboard to create a winter scene.

I have embossed my snow flake with Antique Gold, my deer with Mushroom, the trees with Forest and my swirl with Ruby embossing powders.

And I added some flowers from Attic Charm Glitter Roses and Late Winter Lilies to complete the winter scene.

For my second and third layouts, I used the Heartland collection.

For this layout, I have used the back of the Kiss Kiss paper.  I added some texture with modeling paste and some color with distress spray ink.

I have used the Raspberry embossing powder to emboss my 2 chipboard pieces: the title Just the 2 of Us and Spirit of Heartland. Then I applied a thin coat of gesso on my chipboard.

I added flowers from Attic Charm Glitter RosesHeartland BlossomsHeartland Roses and Blossoms and Late Winter Lilies collections.

Then I added a heart from Frilly Heart chipboard kit stamped in green with the Brocade Texture stamp.

For my last layout, I used the back of the Love Bloom paper. Because I love texture, I added modeling paste through a stencil and added a little bit of pink color with ink.

I choose to paint my Turkish Bits, Together is the Best Place to Be and one piece of the Graduated Squares chipboard with with acrylic paint. Then I used some brown and blue ink to add color to my chipboard. I wanted to keep them soft because the main paper and the flowers are very colored.
