Two layouts by Marie-Josée Hamel

Hello all,

It's my turn today to share my first layouts with you as a new DT member. My name is Marie-Josée Hamel, aka mariemily.

I am a French Canadian living in the Ottawa region with my husband, Michael, and my daughter, Emily, who is 9. I discovered scrapbooking in 2006 and have been hooked to this hobby ever since. You can see my other projects on my blog, Les créations de mariemily (in French and English).

I am really excited to be part of the Blue Fern Studios DT and I hope you will find my projects inspiring.

Today, I have two projects to show you.

"C'est toi la plus belle" layout

I am a huge fan of rainbows and I love to use this color scheme on my layouts. Here, I decided to paint the Chunky Heart Panel and to alter it with shimmery paints, namely the Silks acrylic glazes:

Then, I added color to the center of some heart using Twinkling H2O watercolors:

And I sprayed all the colors of the rainbow over my layout:

Here's a close-up view of the painted chipboard:

"Le roi de l'hiver" layout

I took this picture of a snowy owl on December 29 and decided to use it to create a winter layout in a monochromatic scheme.

I used the Blue Fern Frame. I primed it with gesso, then added Silks Acrylic Glazes in Iridescent Green, and applied Stickles here and there with a paintbrush.

A Layout + A Canvas - Kelly's September Shares

Hello there - Kelly here. I hope your weekend is going well so far...
It is my turn to share my pages for the Blue Fern and 7 Dots Studio swap..

For this first layout, I have combined papers from the Dreamer collection with a little bit of Messy Head, along with elements from the All I ever and Hopefully collections. I like to mix and match!

I really had a great time with these fun summer photos of two of my greatest loves :) :)
I used the Heart Panel - Chunky, to "ground"  my larger photo. This piece was embossed with white embossing powder, brushed a bit with Gelatos, then I added some stamping. I used a couople of the hearts punched out of the same piece here and there on my page.

I have also used the word "Love" from the 2 Hearts Set, and altered it the same as the Heart Panel.

Next, I have an 8x10 reverse canvas...which I used the Messy Head collection from 7 Dots Studio.

Again, on this page, I have used another section of the Heart Panel - Chunky. This is one piece of chipboard that really goes a long way..there are so many options to cut it up to suit your project(s). I have made two layouts, and one canvas so far with this piece and still have some leftover!

Projects by Kotlyarova

Hello, ladies!
Olga is here with you today. I would like to share my new Blue Fern Studios projects with you and hope it will inspire you.
I love watercolor! We can make a lot of interesting effects with it.

Chipboard used:

For this project I use chipboard as a mask. I would like to achieve lightness and tenderness, so the colors here are not so much. But the photo looks very advantageous!

Well, here is just an explosion of color! Also with watercolors. More colors for this fun foto :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a nice day!

A Quick Tutorial with Kelly

Hi there! Kelly here, with a quick tutorial and some ideas on how to use your chipboard and the punched out bits from your chipboard shapes in a new way.

"The Best Day Ever"

I decided to use this to create a whimsical layout...I added in some of the "Cloudy Skies" pieces, which I primed with Gesso, then used the same emboss/resist technique as I described above. I fussy cute the photos of my little girls and placed them upon the clouds.

Behind the cloud pieces I tucked away threads, cheesecloth, tissue paper, and pearl flourishes to add to the whimsical feel. Here are some close ups of the finished project:

I added the Best Day Ever title, which was simply embossed with white powder.

The small hearts are also "left over" pieces from the Hearts Panel.

Here is another layout I created using a similar background style, once again using "leftovers" from the Quatrefoil Panel, along with the Directions set.

"Three"

Nothing like a cluster of arrows to draw attention to the photo, right?

To add extra texture to the quatrefoil pieces I sprinkled on some white mica fragments, and also dabbed them with a texture medium.
